In exactly one month, cities and communities around the globe will kick off Global Entrepreneurship Week, a week-long celebration of the innovators and job creators who launch startups that bring ideas to live, drive economic growth and expand human welfare.
During one week each November, GEW inspires people everywhere through local, national and global activities designed to help them explore their potential as self-starters and innovators. These activities connect participants to potential collaborators, mentors and even investors – introducing them to new possibilities and exciting opportunities.
Last year, GEW USA organizing partners hosted 4,502 activities for more than 769,000 participants in all 50 states. This year, global themes will cover early stage investing, youth entrepreneurship and startup cities. - Spread the word about Global Entrepreneurship Week, Nov. 16-22, 2015 in your newsletters and via social media.
- Promote entrepreneurial events happening in your community during GEW and tag them on social media with #GEWUSA.
- Visit with and share the inspirational stories of your local entrepreneurs.

Tuesday, November 17 – GEW Investors . Early stage investors play an important role in helping entrepreneurs unleash their ideas and reach their full potential. A timely infusion of capital can be the difference between failure and success—helping young companies start and scale while driving innovation and economic growth. GEW Investors provides an opportunity for early stage investors to build and strengthen their entrepreneurial ecosystems—helping to enhance connections with startup communities and policymakers alike.
Thursday, November 19 – GEW Youth. As stronger entrepreneurship ecosystems emerge, young graduates unable to secure a job have more opportunities to leverage their economic freedom and create a job. As they choose to start and scale new businesses, they not only change their lives but also contribute to their communities and countries through job creation and economic renewal.
GEW Youth celebrates and shapes the next generation of entrepreneurs through activities and competitions to help them sharpen their skills and connect them to potential cofounders, mentors and even investors.
Friday, November 20 – GEW Cities. As city officials around the world continue to expand their understanding of the economic importance of new and young firms, more and more are moving away from traditional economic development efforts and embracing their local startup communities. While research is still relatively scarce, approaches have begun to mature past becoming the ‘next Silicon Valley’ as many explore unique policies and programs—seeking to organically grow entrepreneurial ecosystems with local flavor.
GEW Cities explores widespread efforts by policymakers and startup communities alike to support the development of local entrepreneurs, ensuring they have access to the connection and resources necessary to help them launch new startups that provide jobs and generate wealth.
