City of Ruston Planning and Zoning

City of Ruston Planning and Zoning processes applications for various types of properties. Business owners can also confirm whether their proposed location permits the specific type of business they plan to operate.

About

The Planning and Zoning Division works with the public and city officials to evaluate and formulate plans for the development of the city. Land use zones provide for specific types of industrial, commercial, residential, and special use of property throughout the city. Use of property is regulated and business owners need to confirm whether their proposed location permits the specific type of business they intend to operate. Businesses are to submit an application through the Permits and Inspections Division for a specific property to be reviewed by the Planning and Zoning Division. It is important to confer with Planning and Zoning prior to purchasing a property for business operation. The Planning and Zoning Division also expedites the development process by coordinating developer meetings with other departments. This office processes applications for new subdivisions, annexations, re-zoning of properties in the city, street revocations, and temporary mobile home permits. Some of these services require fees. The Ruston Planning and Zoning Commission and the Board of Adjustment rely on Planning and Zoning staff to provide technical and administrative support, including research, legal advertising, exhibits, and archiving. Contact this office by calling the number provided above. Planning and Zoning is open from 8:00 am – 5:00pm Monday through Friday.
